Job summary

Impact Environmental Group (IEG) is seeking a Field Service Technician to repair and maintain compactors and balers for waste-management facilities. This hands-on role covers electrical and hydraulic repairs, site and shop work, and delivering reliable service.

Based in Berwyn, IL, you will diagnose issues, weld, test repairs, and document work while adhering to safety standards. Overtime and on-call rotation are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age and hold a valid driver's license.
• Experience as a compactor technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical components.
• Able to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work rotating on-call schedule including nights & weekends.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and identify issues with compactors quickly and accurately.
• Weld and perform mechanical repairs as needed.
• Use tools for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
• Maintain safety and adhere to protocols during repairs.
• Provide clear reports and communicate with customers.
• Assemble power units in the shop.
• Attend or conduct training sessions with other technicians.
• Work in shop or site as required.
