Job description

The Environmental Technician (ET) performs assigned duties at client sites and at CT Industrial Services owned sites. A technician is responsible for the safe execution of their duties on remediation and/or construction projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Primary duties and responsibilities are specific functions and/or the main duties required to do one's job. They are the reason that the job exists and must be performed by the employee in this position.

  1. Ensures health and safety is the number one goal by following all policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  2. Candidates must acknowledge that labor is a main function of the position. Tasks may include shoveling, raking, fence installation, cleaning tanks, cutting steel, sweeping, working with power tools, etc.
  3. Completion and submission of daily checklists, as required, to document the proper and safe operation of CTIS (CT Industrial Services) owned vehicles and/or equipment.
  4. Ensures work meets all applicable health and safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  5. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  6. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by management and as required by CTIS business needs.
  7. Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with health and safety regulations.
  8. Must have the competency to complete online mandated health and safety, corporate, and regulatory training as mandated by CTIS Health and Safety.
  9. Candidate must have the competency to obtain an OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper certificate.
  10. The ability to wear and effectively use a variety of PPE levels (A, B, C, D), including respirators, skin, face, and foot protection.
  11. Employment is contingent upon the employee being able to shave as needed to don a respirator.
  12. Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, while wearing PPE. Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive agents.
  13. Work extended shifts (>8 hours).
  14. A valid state-issued driver's license is required and a continuing condition of employment.
  15. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  16. Candidates should pass a criminal background check to work on secure governmental installations.
  17. Extensive traveling is mandatory as needed; crews typically travel out of town.
  18. Work schedule: Monday through Friday.
  19. Accommodation: 2 employees per hotel room until supervisor level.
  20. Per diem: $50.00 per day for overnight stays out of town.
  21. Training pay: $12.50 per hour.
  22. Travel pay: $7.25 per hour or a flat rate.
