Job description

Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Hodgkins, IL.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.

Salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Current relevant electrical certification

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Minimal level of workshop related experience required.

Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products

High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience

  • Experience in a field service, construction, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.
Additional
  • Current valid driver's license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with 2 years of driving experience.
  • Must meet company motor vehicle record (MVR) requirements with no major violations.
  • CDL may be required based on business needs.
  • Federal law requires CDL holders to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Willingness to participate in training programs, emergency response work, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and work around power generation equipment in industrial and outdoor environments.- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older- A current valid license is required for this role- Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations - Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
