Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Field Service Mechanical Engineer for the Americas BRUSH Team. You will perform inspections, rebuilds, and installations of generators and related equipment at customer sites, collaborating with global teams and attending trainings.

Strong initiative and HSE leadership are essential for success. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on motor/generator experience, an accredited engineering qualification, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Hold an accredited Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Have 5+ years of hands-on experience with motors and/or generators.
• Be self-sufficient, resourceful, and a strong problem solver.
• Communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
• Be willing to travel offshore and overseas for assignments and training.
• Demonstrate initiative and confidence when operating independently on-site.
• Lead by example in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission turbo-driven generators, sync condensers, and motors.
• Conduct mechanical alignments and basic electrical tests using optical, laser, and electrical systems.
• Interpret technical specifications and prepare method statements and customer reports.
• Support winding specialists with in-situ winding repairs and rewinds.
• Deliver solutions beyond the scope when required to meet customer needs.

As a Field Service Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering technical solutions at customer sites. From inspections and alignments to installations and rebuilds, you’ll ensure our equipment performs to the highest standards. You’ll collaborate with global teams and attend trainings in Italy, UK, and Czech Republic to stay ahead of the curve.

As a Field Service Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Performing mechanical inspections, maintenance, and repairs on generators per OEM standards

• Installing and commissioning turbo-driven generators, sync condensers, and motors
