Job summary

Baker Hughes Americas BRUSH Team seeks a Field Service Electrical/Controls Engineer to install, commission, repair and maintain large rotating electrical machines and their control equipment. You will work across Houston and Brazil hubs supporting the region.

The role requires accredited electrical/controls qualification, knowledge of networking, and willingness to travel offshore and overseas. You will communicate in English and collaborate with clients and field-service colleagues.

Qualifications

• Accredited Electrical/Controls qualification or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of networking systems (Modbus, Ethernet, 61850).
• Awareness of Health, Safety & Environment concepts.
• Willingness to undertake extensive overseas assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Experience with high/low voltage electrical testing in the field.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronising equipment.
• Upgrades to AVRs, PMS, Synchronisers, protection relays.
• Electrical testing on HV/LV equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Deliver training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings, attending technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments for client sites.
• Assisting mechanical service engineers on assignments where not electrical activities.

Join the Baker Hughes Americas BRUSH Team to carry out installation, commissioning, repair, maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment.

As an Americas Field Service Electrical/Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
• Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronisers, Protection relays and other control elements.
• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities

Fuel Your Passion:

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have an accredited Electrical or Controls qualification or relevant experience.
• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre would be advantageous
• Have knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Health, Safety & Environment
• Have undergone medical examinations to ascertain and certify physical fitness for offshore and overseas work.
• Have the ability to be self-reliant, resourceful, and a problem solver with well‑developed commercial awareness.
• Have the capability to communicate effectively, being fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Have the ability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore assignments.
• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative.
• Have the qualities of a good team player with the ability to work independently.
• Have a high level of knowledge in electrical power generation and distribution systems.
