Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking an Americas Field Service Winding Engineer to inspect, test and repair HV windings on large generators at customer sites around the world. You will interpret specifications, prepare method statements and work with a team to keep critical equipment running.

The role requires hands-on winding expertise, an apprenticeship in armature winding, strong English communication, and willingness for extensive travel to client sites and offshore projects.

Qualifications

• Experience winding electrical generators in HV machines.
• Craft apprenticeship in armature winding on large HV rotating electrical machines.
• Experience with different generator winding models.
• Soldering, brazing, crimping and HV insulation procedures.
• Self-sufficient, resourceful and an effective problem solver.
• Strong character and high energy.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Willingness for extensive overseas/offshore travel.
• Experience representing the company at customer sites and working remotely on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Perform winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on Generator HV windings on customer sites globally.
• Carry out basic mechanical strip-down and rebuild to access windings.
• Carry out electrical testing on high/low voltage windings in the field.
• Conduct visual winding inspections of stator, rotor and excitation system.
• Perform on-site winding repairs including stator re-wedge work.
• Work as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations.
• Assist mechanical service engineers on assignments as needed.
• Supervise and train internal and external customers.
• Interpret drawings and requirements; prepare method statements and detailed reports for customers.

Join the Baker Hughes Americas BRUSH Team to carry out On-site inspection, testing and repair of stator, rotor and exciter windings of large high voltage electric generators.

As an Americas Field Service Winding Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Performing Winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on Generator HV windings on customer sites globally.

• Carrying out basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access to the generator windings.

• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field.

• Carrying out visual winding inspections of the stator, rotor and excitation system.

• Carrying out in-situ generator winding repairs including stator re-wedge work.

• Working as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations.

• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve winding related activities.

• Supervising and training internal and external customers.

• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers' premises.

• Carrying out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment.

• Carrying out other reasonable duties as directed from time to time by the Field Service Manager

Fuel Your Passion:

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience in winding of electrical generators.

• Have been qualified through a recognized craft apprenticeship in armature winding on large highvoltage rotating electrical machines.

• Have experience working on various model generator windings.

• Have competence in soldering, brazing, crimping and highvoltage insulating procedures.

• Have the ability to be selfsufficient, resourceful and an effective problem solver.

• Have strength of character and high levels of energy.

• Have the ability to communicate effectively, being fluent in both spoken and written English.

• Have the capability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore work, often for extended periods.

• Have experience representing the company at customer sites and operating remotely on own initiative while meeting required standards.

Our Americas team is growing to support the demand in the region and this includes a hub in Houston and Brazil that will support our growing demand for more Field Service Engineers.
