Job summary

Herc Rentals Inc. is seeking a Field Service Mechanic B to maintain and repair heavy equipment on customer job sites. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and ensure safe operation of the Herc fleet with hands-on service and clear reporting.

Role requires strong mechanical skills, on-call availability, and ability to work independently at various locations. Training and safety standards are emphasized as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read detailed schematics, manuals, and safety labels.
• Own a selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs.
• Operate and test equipment including boom lifts, forklifts, generators, hydraulics, pumps, etc.
• Be on call to support operations.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Herc fleet at customer sites.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose and battery work.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure operation at job sites.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Return equipment to safe working condition with parts replacement.
• Provide clear service reports and logs.
• Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent future breakdowns.
• Adhere to on-site safety guidelines and company protocols.
• Maintain organized work area at job sites.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
