Position Overview
The Field Service Lead Technician will install, replace, and perform routine and preventive maintenance on critical power systems. The technician will provide direction and oversight to other technicians on-site and act as a liaison to the customer.
Reporting Relationship
The Field Service Lead Technician reports to the Service Manager.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Install/replace battery systems, related accessories, and hardware
- Install/replace power electronics equipment/hardware, including wiring and connections
- Perform preventive maintenance and testing on battery and battery charging systems in UPS, Utility, and Telecommunication settings
- Analyze job specifications, drawings, and documentation
- Perform circuit modifications, including hot-cuts and h-taps
- Handle power transition work
- Add or remove circuits on a working power distribution source
- Equipment turn-up, testing, and programming
- Install temporary power systems and batteries on energized systems
- Update and correct customer drawings
- Lead and direct teams effectively
- Participate in safety training and adhere to safety policies
- Follow all industry and manufacturer standards for maintenance and installation
- Operate tools, test equipment, and material handling equipment properly
- Continuously train and develop skills, and develop technicians
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge
- Electrical systems knowledge
- Proficiency with tools like wrenches and multimeters
- Troubleshooting skills and equipment operation
- Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively
- Excellent attendance and customer service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Travel Expectations
- Up to 35% based on project needs and season
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Pass physical, background check, and drug screening
- Willingness to travel overnight and extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 150 lbs.
- Class C CDL where required
- Compliance with DOT drug and alcohol testing
