Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service Lead to direct and support the M&G field service team in the US. You will coordinate field activities, provide technical escalation, and ensure safety compliance while collaborating with management, operations, and sales to grow field service opportunities for Motors and Generators.

-qualified candidates will have strong knowledge of electric machines, installation design, and proven leadership abilities, plus travel flexibility up to 50%.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field with 7+ years of relevant experience or high school/GED with 9+ years.
  • Strong knowledge of electric machines theory, including synchronous/asynchronous machines.
  • Experience with installation engineering design, vibration, alignment, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate field service activities and support Field Service Leads.
  • Approve expenses, conduct performance reviews, and time approvals.
  • Provide first-tier escalation for customers and HSE tasks for the team.
  • Travel up to 50% to support field work and customers.

Organizing and executing field service activities can be complex. The applicant will need to work with Field Service Management, Operations, Sales, and other internal and external stakeholders to support Motors and Generators customers.The work model for the role is: HybridThis role is contributing to the Motion Service division in the US.You will be mainly accountable for:Perform administrative duties for field team members who report to you. This includes but is not limited to approval of expenses, annual performance review, and weekly time approval.Perform all Field Service functions as needed for emergency response support dispatches.Act as a technical resource and first tier escalation point for customers and HSC concerns your team. Perform HSE related tasks for your team by conducting SOTs and JSA review.Work with management and operations to coordinate field work and help to support the other Field Service Leads.Work with the field service management to determine proficiency and resource requirements for your team. Help develop plans to strengthen the field service organization as a whole.Work with management, operations, and sales to analyze and develop field service scope for opportunities related to Motors and Generators.Requirements:Associate degree in technical field and 7 years of relevant experience or High school diploma/GED and 9 years of relevant experience or military education/experience requiredAbility to travel up to 50% of the time.Strong knowledge of basic and advanced electric machines theory. Solid understanding of synchronous and asynchronous machines design and operation, mechanically, electrically and controls. Knowledge of the protection and operation principles for synchronous and asynchronous machines connected to power gridsSpecific knowledge in installation engineering design, installation supervision, project control and execution, vibration and alignment skills and troubleshooting is a plusUnderstanding of and ability to implement electrical, connection drawings, interconnection drawings, and schematics.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
