Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking an Advance Energy Rental Generator Technician in Columbus, MS. The role involves maintaining, repairing and preparing rental generators for field use across Middle Tennessee, West Tennessee and Northern Mississippi regions.

You will perform PM and troubleshooting, install and commission generators, and coordinate with Rentals for timely customer service. Travel and field work are required.

Qualifications

• Flexible schedules including nights, weekends and on-call hours.
• Experience with generator systems and power generation equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with generator controls.
• Professionalism, integrity, adaptability and customer service focus.
• Ability to travel within assigned region and work overtime, weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting on generator systems.
• Conduct load bank testing and generator performance checks.
• Complete controller upgrades and electrical diagnostics.
• Replace components including alternators and related generator parts.
• Install, connect and commission generators for rental or field use.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring harnesses and control systems.
• Maintain equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Support Rental Sales by responding to customer needs in a positive, safe manner.
• Keep equipment ready-to-rent and organize inventory in storage yards.
• Deliver equipment to customer locations as needed.
