Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking an Electric Power Generation Technician to install, diagnose, and service diesel-powered standby generation equipment at customer sites across the Middle Tennessee and North Mississippi territory.

You will work largely independently with a company vehicle, performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs while ensuring safety and high customer satisfaction. Travel up to 20% is expected, with opportunities for CAT training and career growth.

Qualifications

• Power generation or maintenance training from accredited programs or military experience required.
• 2+ years of hands-on electrical diagnostics on 8.5kW–2,500kW diesel generators.
• Ability to travel up to 20% and work independently in remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, diagnose, and repair diesel powered standby generators.
• Troubleshoot electrical and engine systems at customer sites.
• Interpret safety manuals, schematics, and service manuals; maintain quality workmanship.
