Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking an Advance Energy Rental Generator Technician to maintain, repair, and prep rental generators for field projects across the Middle Tennessee and Northern Mississippi area.

You will diagnose electrical and control system issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure equipment is ready-to-rent at customer sites. The role requires travel, flexibility, and a strong customer-service mindset to support the Rental Sales team and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working with generator systems and power generation equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with generator controls.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
• Must possess a current, valid state driver's license with a DOT medical card as required for towing.
• Able to travel in an assigned region and work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on generator systems.
• Conduct load bank testing and generator performance checks.
• Complete controller upgrades and electrical diagnostics.
• Replace alternators and related generator components as needed.
• Install, connect, and commission generators for rental or field applications.
