The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Field Service Engineer for the area of Western DC in the Triangle of Leesburg, VA, Winchester, VA, and Frederick, MD. This is a field-based position that offers a company car, gas card, cell phone, and laptop, with all vehicle maintenance covered by QuidelOrtho. This position covers customers throughout the Western area of DC.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field. Troubleshoot technical problems and system issues.
• Determine technical solutions according to product and customer specifications and recommend actions to company or customer representatives.
• Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements.
• Assess customer needs and recommend solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications.
• Conduct technical training and product briefings with customers, vendors, and company representatives. Act as local on-site representative. Manage territory responsibilities including preventive maintenance and upgrades.
• Provide service support in hospital/clinic laboratory environments.
• Manage parts inventory, online training, and administrative expenses.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Candidates should meet customer credentialing requirements, including immunizations. The company is an equal opportunity employer and will provide reasonable accommodations where possible.

• Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent 4 years of military or field service experience.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment.
• Team player, self-motivated, interacts well with peers, sales, and customers.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Technical knowledge in electro-mechanical, chemistry, computer disciplines.
• Ability to manage workload effectively.
• Must lift up to 75 lbs.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Extended hours and travel (up to 75%) including overnight stays.
• Position not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred

• Experience in Healthcare or Medical Device industry.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work hours are typical with overtime. Must work autonomously in a home office, maintain a valid driver’s license, own a suitable vehicle, and travel as needed. Physical requirements include vision, handling, walking, standing, and lifting up to 75 lbs.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $65,000 to $85,000, bonus eligible. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), paid time off, and more. Benefits are non-contractual and subject to change.
