Job summary

Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, start up, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial water and wastewater equipment at customer sites across the United States.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control systems, perform preventive maintenance, train operators, document findings, and coordinate with project teams to ensure reliable performance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• The candidate has 3+ years in field service, industrial maintenance, or equipment installation/startup.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with rotating equipment and mechanical assemblies.
• Basic troubleshooting of control panels (motors, VFDs) and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Independent problem-solving in the field with clear communication to customers.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 85%.
• Excellent customer interaction and communication skills.
• Experience in water/wastewater or related industrial environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site technical resource for commissioning and startup, ensuring design specs are met.
• Lead troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and control systems, identifying root causes.
• Coordinate on-site with contractors, plant personnel, and internal stakeholders to drive progress.
• Perform system diagnostics on rotating equipment, VFDs, and control components for reliable performance.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance, addressing issues early.
• Provide hands-on training to operators and maintenance teams on operation and upkeep.
