Job summary

Bodor Laser USA is seeking a Service Engineer to support customers with Bodor Lasers by providing technical advice and after‑sales service in the field. The role involves on‑site and remote assistance, troubleshooting, and ensuring optimal laser system performance.

The position requires installing, repairing and diagnosing automated CNC and fiber laser machines, with travel across the United States. NC residents preferred; competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, automation or electrical engineering with 2+ years on automated CNC machines.
• Experience installing, repairing and diagnosing automated CNC machines.
• 3+ years of related experience on automated CNC machines or fiber laser machines.
• Able to read electrical and mechanical drawings and use test equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and remote communication tools.

Job Description

Support customers with Bodor Lasers by providing technical advice and after‑sales service in the field. The position offers a broad salary range that varies based on experience, location and industry benchmarks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for customers and provide direct support for laser machines via phone, email, chat and on‑site visits.
• Assist personnel and customers with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
• Track technical issues and incoming requests from customers.
• Manage schedules and follow up with customers in assigned territories to ensure optimized use of the lasers.
• Perform mechanical repairs on laser machines at customer locations, assessing whether special resources or parts are required.
• Understand layout drawings and blueprints for equipment installation.
• Develop and maintain a replacement parts list, ensuring parts are in stock through effective communication with customers, staff, vendors and manufacturers.
• Identify safety issues on the machines.
• Provide customer training.
• Write service and expense reports.
• Conduct failure‑mode analyses and recommend upgrades.
• Assist with final integration and commissioning of complex automation projects as needed.
• Handle heavy mechanical moves, such as loading/unloading equipment onto trucks.
• Travel regularly within assigned territories.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechatronics, automation engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent, with at least 2 years of experience on automated CNC machines.
• Recent experience installing, repairing and diagnosing automated CNC machines.
• 3 + years of related experience on automated CNC machines or fiber laser machines.
• Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and use test equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and remote communication tools.
• Proficient at working independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual in Mandarin is a plus.
• Residing in the NC area is preferred.
• Self‑driven and responsible.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to travel locally and domestically as required.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.

Location & Travel

• Employees may work remotely within their state of employment but are expected to travel frequently to customer sites across the United States; occasional international travel may also be required.
• Employees may choose to work from a preferred state in NC.
