Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Field Service/Technical Support Engineer to provide outstanding service to customers. The role involves remote and on-site support, diagnosing and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems, and maintaining strong customer relationships from Saab’s Syracuse, NY operations.

Travel up to 25% internationally and domestically is required. Compensation ranges from $72,000 to $90,000 with considerations for role, location, and experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in an engineering discipline with 2+ years of related experience, or an MA/MS degree in an engineering discipline, or 6+ years of military or aerospace experience.
• Experience with the design, operation, or maintenance of radar and surveillance systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to build positive customer relationships through continued, long-term interaction.
• Networking experience or certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+).
• Hardware and/or electrical installation experience.
• Experience with Unix, Linux, and MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote and occasional on-site technical support to customers across multiple complex systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and debug complex electro-mechanical equipment, computer systems, software, and networked and/or wireless systems.
• Resolve complex issues independently or in collaboration with others, as needed.
• Respond to situations where first-line technicians are unable to isolate or resolve issues with malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Identify and report design, reliability, and maintenance issues, as well as software bugs, to design and software engineering teams.
• Interact frequently with customers to provide technical support and develop strong relationships.
• Support additional company functions, including customer installations and training, as needed.
