Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Procurement) to evaluate the design and performance of advanced IT-based systems and to support procurement for training simulators.

You will install, configure, and test server hardware, assemble simulator components, manage material requests and POs in Costpoint, and coordinate with corporate buyers to source vendors and ensure timely delivery and accurate inventory.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance
• Understanding of server components (CPU, RAM, storage)
• Experience with server models and rack types
• Ability to safely lift and mount servers in racks
• Knowledge of cabling and cable management techniques
• Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the design and performance of IT-based systems
• Install, configure, and test server hardware for training simulators
• Assemble simulator components and ensure proper airflow and cabling
• Assist with hardware upgrades, replacements, and repairs
• Review technical documentation to verify equipment suitability
• Create and update CAD drawings and technical requirements
• Coordinate system installation, testing, and troubleshooting
• Generate material requests and track PRs/POs in Costpoint
• Coordinate with buyers for vendor sourcing and quotes
• Track order status, delivery schedules and lead times
• Perform material management including inspection and receiving
• Own and manage hardware inventory and BOM/ABL data
• Support configuration management documentation
