Job summary

Messer Cutting Systems seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, service and maintain CNC cutting systems across North America, traveling to customer sites from Omaha and surrounding regions. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience in machine installation and repair.
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Robotics or Automation preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 95–100% with short notice.

  • Perform machine and software upgrades.
  • Train customers on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Properly handle 480VAC and conform to related safety procedures.
  • Interpret mechanical layouts, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Complete required paperwork on time (service reports, etc.).
  • Achieve/maintain Customer Survey Satisfaction ratings as per Service Manager.
  • Provide technical telephone support as required.

Job Summary

Messer Cutting Systems, located in Wisconsin, is a global supplier of cutting solutions for the metal‑working industry. We are looking for an Field Service Engineer in Omaha, Nebraska and the surrounding area to assemble part of the Field Service team. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for Messer Cutting Systems machine installations, preventative maintenance, and service on machines throughout North America at various customer sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, install, and perform preventive maintenance of multi‑axis CNC equipment at customer sites throughout North America
  • Perform machine and software upgrades
  • Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment
  • Properly handle 480VAC and conform to related safety procedures
  • Interpret mechanical layout drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
  • Complete required paperwork on time (e.g., service reports, discrepancy reports, expense reports, etc.)
  • Achieve/maintain Customer Survey Satisfaction rating as established by the Service Manager
  • Provide technical telephone support, as required
  • Conduct final product testing in‑house, as required
  • Conform to OSHA’s safety guidelines and follow proper lockout/tagout procedures
  • Requires 95–100% travel, frequently on short notice
Minimum Education and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of related experience in comparable machine installation and repair preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Robotics or Automation technologies preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with Plasma, Laser, and Oxy‑fuel cutting process
  • Experience with multi‑axis CNC machines
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Familiar with the use of power and construction tools, such as hammer drills, impact guns, and cordless drills
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, with a "customer first" mindset
  • Self‑motivated and ability to work independently

  • Work is performed in a moderate to loud manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
