We have a Field Service Engineer position to perform Planned Maintenance on MALDI Biotyper instruments, based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) and basic services on MALDI Biotyper Systems, including verification of system performance and execution of maintenance protocols.
• Conducts troubleshooting on-site using Digital Volt Meter (DVM) or remote diagnostic software to determine if an onsite visit is necessary.
• Re-qualifies the instrument after repairs by executing Operational and Performance protocols.
• Coordinates travel arrangements and generates expense reports.
• Secures customer acceptance of maintenance or repairs.
• Coordinates customer WebEx sessions, phone support, and lab inspections.
• Attends certified MALDI Biotyper product training at the German factory.
• Works closely with service/support centers.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• B.S. Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, biotech, or chemistry-related fields or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years' experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electronic equipment.

Skills and Attributes:

• Proficiency with MS Office and basic understanding of network interfacing.
• Valid Driver's license.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues clearly.
• Knowledge of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry, laser technology, and high vacuum systems.
• Customer-focused with the ability to interact with scientists holding advanced degrees.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel routinely and maintain a current passport.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and manipulate small tools.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $113,000, depending on experience, education, and location.
