Job summary

ASM is seeking a Field Service Engineer II in Bloomington, MN to install, maintain and troubleshoot ASM's advanced semiconductor capital equipment at customer sites. You will maximize equipment performance, minimize downtime and deliver exceptional customer support.

Requires 4+ years in field service or manufacturing, a Bachelor's in Electromechanical engineering or equivalent, and ability to travel up to 75% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent tech training.
• Minimum 4 years of field service or manufacturing experience with OEM semiconductor capital equipment.
• Ability to obtain Level 3 certification through ASM's Global Training Center (GTC).
• Knowledge of wafer fabrication environments and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Experience troubleshooting gas delivery systems, vacuum systems, RF plasma systems, and semiconductor equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and gas schematics.
• Knowledge of robotics, microprocessor-based controllers, and basic software concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• English language proficiency.
• Ability to work in semiconductor cleanroom environments and travel up to 25‑75%.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, qualification, startup, checkout, and decommissioning of ASM's complex semiconductor capital equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on ASM systems.
• Troubleshoot electromechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, gas delivery, RF plasma, robotics, and microprocessor-controlled systems.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate issues and develop corrective actions.
• Implement ECOs and field modifications as released by Engineering.
• Provide timely, high-quality technical solutions and communicate status updates.
