Job description

Join to apply for the Field Service Engineer II role at Applied Spectra, Inc.

Applied Spectra, Inc. (ASI) is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support our analytical laser spectroscopy business. The candidate will be trained in all aspects of our instruments, including manufacturing, testing, and repair. Once trained, the main duties will include onsite customer services such as installation, maintenance, and training. The candidate will coordinate with our scientific, engineering, and manufacturing teams to work with new and existing customers to address all instrument requirements. The position also involves setting up service contracts and developing methods, guidelines, and policies to facilitate efficient services.

Responsibilities
  1. Test and validate electro-optical-mechanical equipment
  2. Author manufacturing documentation (Work Instructions, Test Protocols, Component Specifications, etc.) to meet manufacturing and Quality System requirements
  3. Install, configure, perform final testing, train, and service instruments at customer sites
  4. Provide remote technical support via phone and electronic communication (email/web-based)
  5. Travel domestically and internationally (up to 50% annually)
  6. Work overtime or weekends as needed
Requirements
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous experience as a field engineer or similar role
  • Experience preparing device history records (DHR) is a plus
  • Laser systems experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with mechanical systems and parts assembly; excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical documentation, including drawings and schematics
  • Technical proficiency with testing equipment such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, etc.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Work Environment

This role operates in a casual office setting combined with manufacturing and warehouse spaces. Standard office equipment will be used, and the role may require lifting and the use of power tools.
