Job summary

RMS Energy is hiring an entry-level Field Service Engineer I to support critical energy infrastructure across the United States. You will assist senior technicians with testing and maintenance of transformers, switchgear, breakers, and related equipment at power plants, dams, and industrial sites.

You’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for advancement while traveling to client sites and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–1 years of experience in electrical maintenance, utility, industrial, or military settings.
• Ability to read simple one-line diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain low- to high-voltage systems (480V–600kV).
• Support transformer testing using Doble/Megger equipment.
• Perform cable tests including VLF, Tan Delta, and DC Hi-Pot.
• Shadow relay testing for electromechanical and solid-state relays.
• Participate in functional testing of protection and control systems.
• Learn to use meters to measure voltage, current, and resistance.
• Follow procedures and complete service logs and checklists.
• Assist with job setup, equipment staging, and safe grounding.
• Read and interpret diagrams and manuals with guidance from senior staff.
• Maintain tools and equipment and follow safety protocols.
• Travel to customer sites across the country and work overtime/weekends as needed.
• Follow safety and PPE usage protocols in noisy, high-voltage environments.
