Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Northern Virginia, covering Leesburg, Manassas, and Sterling. The role focuses on field-based commissioning, testing, and startup of power distribution equipment and protective relays, with extensive domestic travel.

You will work with customers and teams to validate performance, troubleshoot, and deliver technical training where needed. A strong background in high- and medium-voltage systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 4+ years of field-based commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Experience with protection and control relays (SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC) and related software.
  • Ability to travel up to ~80% domestically.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, commission, and start up low- and medium-voltage power equipment (480V–38kV).
  • Perform hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relays.
  • Use test equipment and software to validate system performance.
  • Support greenfield and brownfield projects through commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze test results, document findings in field reports.
  • Provide technical support, training, and consulting to customers and teams.
  • Travel extensively to job sites across the U.S. to support field execution.
