Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Field Service Engineer for the Austin, TX area. The role involves installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of Brooks equipment, with opportunities to lead site activities and coordinate with customers.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of electro-mechanical/electronics support, experience with lasers and sensing devices on robotic units, and strong PC/DOS skills. Travel, on-call work, and training are expected components of the job.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or technical certificate or equivalent experience.
3+ years in electro-mechanical/electronics support or repair.
Experience with lasers and sensing devices on robotic units.
Experience troubleshooting microelectronics schematics and digital circuits.
Proficiency with PCs, Windows, and DOS operating systems.
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain travel passport.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
On-call availability as needed.

Responsibilities

Install, modify, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on Brooks equipment.
Isolate and resolve complex malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
Lead or assist on installations, site leads, and customer meetings as needed.
Maintain safe working environment following Brooks and customer policies.
Create reports, status updates, and documentation for management.
Train and mentor junior service engineers and customer personnel.
