Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Field Service/Support Engineer to service, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on Teledyne FLIR Detection instruments worldwide, at customer sites or in-house.

Responsibilities include installation, training, GC/MS and Bio instrument repair, clear documentation, and ongoing internal training programs. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/ASEET with 2+ years directly relevant work experience; or Master with specialization in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology.
  • 3+ years of work experience with GC/MS instruments preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Experience in assembly/repair of PCBs, cable harnesses, vacuum lines and complex electromechanical instruments.
  • Able and willing to travel domestically 25%+ and internationally 20%+ to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Install Teledyne FLIR hardware and software in the field.
  • Provide training on product hardware/software in the field and at Teledyne FLIR.
  • Troubleshoot and repair GC/MS and Bio instruments at Teledyne FLIR or client sites.
  • Be knowledgeable on all Teledyne FLIR Detection Mass Spectrometry and Bio products.
  • Document questions, techniques and solutions in the knowledge base.

Job Summary:

The Field Service/Support Engineer will service, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance (including installation and training) on Teledyne FLIR Detection instruments in house or at customer sites all over the world.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation of Teledyne FLIR hardware and software in the field.
  • Provide training on the use of product hardware and software both at Teledyne FLIR and in the field
  • Troubleshoot and repair Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) and Bio instruments both at Teledyne FLIR and in the field.
  • Be knowledgeable and proficient on all Teledyne FLIR Detection - Mass Spectrometry and Bio products and services including handhelds (explosives and radiation)
  • Manage and resolve in a professional, pleasant and responsive manner incoming product support.
  • Document appropriate questions, techniques and solutions in the product knowledge base (JIRA program or formal documentation).
  • Participate in ongoing internal training programs.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (BSEET) degree; or
  • Associates of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (ASEET) and 2 years of directly relevant work experience; or
  • Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc;
  • and 3+ years of work experience with GC/MS instruments preferred
  • Proven experience required in the assembly and/or repair of:
  • Printed circuit boards from engineering drawings
  • Cable assemblies and harnesses from engineering drawings
  • Vacuum lines and tubing
  • Complex electro-mechanical instruments
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with team members and customers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High energy, proactive orientation.
  • Prior military experience a plus.
  • Able and willing to travel domestic 25%+ to customer sites.
  • Able and willing to travel international 20% + to customer sites
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
