Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions is seeking a Field Service Engineer to oversee quality installations, maintenance, and repairs of injection molding machinery. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and lead reliability initiatives across NASP plants.

The role requires extensive experience with injection molding machines, blueprints and schematics, and travel to support multiple sites. A mechanical engineering degree and strong MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Experience with hydraulics, controls, electrical systems and mechanical systems.
  • Extensive experience with injection molding machinery.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint & Project).
  • Willingness to travel overnight and cross-country.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic directions regarding reliability initiatives and TPM implementation.
  • Provide essential safety inspections and repairs on injection machinery as necessary.
  • Perform quality installations, troubleshooting, repairs and rebuild of injection molding machinery; work with brands such as Husky, Engel, Krauss Maffei, Milacron and Demag.
  • Develop and test plans for injection equipment and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Lead or train maintenance technicians on projects and coordinate with OEMs and vendors.

JOB DESCRIPTION A Field Service Engineer is responsible for quality installations, rebuilds, maintenance, and repairs to injection molding machinery. Breakdowns will require troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and circuits. The Engineer is part of a team which is responsible for the direction of our division toward improved reliability and lowering our dependency on hourly labor and outside vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide Leadership and Strategic directions regarding NASP use of Reliability and TPM implementation
  • Provide essential safety inspections and repairs on injection machinery as necessary
  • Provide quality installations, troubleshooting, repairs and rebuild of injection molding machinery. Specific experience with Husky, Engel, Krauss Maffei, Milacron and Demag brands
  • Develops plans for testing injection equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
  • Develops plans for preventative maintenance techniques and procedures for injection machinery
  • Supply technical advice or service for all injection machinery onsite and verbally
  • Must be proficient in injection machinery controls
  • May conduct training in the operation and maintenance of injection machinery
  • Assures injection machine performance to all plants in NASP
  • Must be able to maintain good customer relations and communications with all plants and upper management
  • Critical spare parts purchase recommendation and procurement
  • Must be able to lead and train less experienced maintenance technicians when assigned to similar projects
  • Designs engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
  • Assists in the preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.
  • Maintains awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope and schedule to ensure on time delivery of projects within internal budgets.
  • Prepares any necessary progress reports.
  • Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required and requested by Management.
  • Conducts R & D activities concerned with integration and testing of injection machinery and in development of new applications.
  • Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production injection machinery equipment.
  • Works with maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with OEM and outside vendors for design, fabrication and installation/repair of injection machinery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or minimum of 5 years equivalent experience working on injection machinery
  • Experience with hydraulics, controls, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
  • Extensive experience with injection molding machinery required
  • Proven mechanical and electrical skills required and ability to read mechanical blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Strong MS Office (excel, power point & project)
  • Experience with CMMS systems (Hippo)
  • Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Has the ability to multi-task, prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Overnight and cross-country travel is required
