Job summary

The Nederman Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a field service engineer to provide on-site mechanical service and troubleshooting for industrial equipment. You will grow the aftermarket business through customer support, quotations, and training, while reviewing installations for upgrade opportunities.

You will manage projects on major component and repair jobs, conduct on-site training, and prepare technical proposals.

Qualifications

• 4 year Mechanical Engineering degree required; other engineering degrees considered.
• Experience servicing industrial equipment, rotating equipment, seals, vacuum systems, pumps preferred.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and interpreting fabrication drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft CRM, Excel, Word, Outlook; AutoCAD/Inventor skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality Field Service and Troubleshooting to LCI customers including documentation of work performed.
• Prepare RFQs, cost sheets, and final quotations for customers.
• Present design concepts and final proposals for customers or sales team.
• Take calls and promote Aftermarket Products, Services, and Capabilities to existing customers.
• Analyze sales history and develop a plan to grow Aftermarket business.
• Perform shop inspections of parts and components.
• Serve as Project Manager on Major Component and Repair jobs when needed.
• Conduct onsite Lunch and Learns to train customers on maintenance.

Job description

Primary responsibilities include providing mechanical field service support to LCI’s existing customers. Activities also include growing the part & service business through customer service via incoming phone calls, telephone support, troubleshooting, and customer training. Also responsible for reviewing customer installations for opportunities to upgrade and improve existing equipment, writing trip reports, preparing quotations and handling warranty service.

Responsibilities:

- Provide quality Field Service and Troubleshooting to LCI customers including maintaining good customer service relations. Duties also include documentation of work performed in a service report.

- Prepare requests for quotations (RFQs) from suppliers/shops, cost sheets (job estimations), create & issue final proposals/quotations for customers.

- Professionally prepare & present design concepts and final proposals for customers or sales team.

- Take incoming phone calls and provide solutions for LCI’s existing customer base. Proactively call and visit existing LCI customers to promote Aftermarket Products, Services, and Capabilities,i.e. Spare Parts, Major Components, Field Service and Repair work, etc. Expected to analyze sales and customer usage history and develop sales plan to grow Aftermarket business.

- Perform shop inspections of LCI parts, components, etc.

- Serve as Project Manager on selected Major Component and Repair jobs and/or during peak loads, i.e. no LCI Project Managers available.

- Conduct onsite “Lunch and Learns” for customers to train them on how to properly maintain LCI equipment/systems.

- All other duties that may be necessary from time to time outside the normal scope of your job description that will contribute toward the Company meeting its goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

• 4 year Mechanical Engineering degree required (BS in Electrical or Chemical Engineering also considered)
• Experience in servicing industrial equipment, preferably with rotating equipment, mechanical seals, vacuum systems, and pumps preferred.
• Experience or knowledge of Fabrication procedures and techniques preferred.
• Knowledge of Vibration Analysis Certification, Surface Profiling/Metallurgy, Measuring Tools, i.e. Calipers, Micrometer, Hardness Testing
• Reading/Interpreting Fabrication Drawings
• Proficient in Microsoft CRM, Excel, Word, Outlook Software,
• Possess intermediate and basic skills in the use of AutoCAD and Inventor software respectively.
