Job summary

Nederman is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to support laboratory feasibility studies and scale-up data for specialty equipment projects in Charlotte, NC. You will run PES tests, contribute to design/costing, and assist with field service and startups.

Domestic and international travel may be required to client sites and seminars. A BS in Chemical Engineering with 1–5 years of experience and proficiency in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and process simulation is expected.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years’ experience in chemical process engineering preferred.
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Excel required.
  • Proficiency in heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Familiarity with instrumentation and controls.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings (PFD’s, PID’s, GA’s)
  • Strong written and communication skills; skilled in presentations.
  • Process Simulation Software (ASPEN), AutoCAD, OSHA & EPA, safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Test Center demonstrations and laboratory evaluations, as a precursor to sales, on client material incorporating LCI’s technology and experience.
  • Analyze the test data and write reports for the tests and preliminary evaluations.
  • Design systems for specific product applications based on analysis of the test results and customer data.
  • Estimate cost of proposed systems and prepare proposals. Writing proposals including costing jobs and maintaining pricing levels to maximize LCI’s competitiveness and profit margins.
  • Travel to customer sites to discuss potential applications, help set strategy, and present seminars covering LCI technologies.
  • Domestic and international travel for start-ups of leased and purchased equipment.
  • Inspect equipment during and after fabrication and assembly to ensure they meet the client’s requirements and expectations.

Job Summary:

TheChemical Process Engineer will use engineering expertise and knowledge of LCI’s Thermal Separations Technology and Granulation Technology to support specialty equipment sales. Responsibilities include running laboratory feasibility studies (PES) and customer attended Test Center trials to develop scale-up data. Also responsible for system designing/costing, proposals, field service/troubleshooting, and start ups.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform Test Center demonstrations and laboratory evaluations, as a precursor to sales, on client material incorporating LCI’s technology and experience. Analyze the test data and write reports for the tests and preliminary evaluations.
  • Design systems for specific product applications based on analysis of the test results and customer data, along with LCI know-how and experience to maximize LCI’s competitive situation.
  • Estimate cost of proposed systems and prepare proposals. Writing proposals including costing jobs and maintaining pricing levels to maximize LCI’s competitiveness and profit margins.
  • Travel to customer sites to discuss potential applications, help set strategy, and present seminars covering LCI technologies. Domestic and international travel for start-ups of leased and purchased equipment.
  • Inspect equipment during and after fabrication and assembly to ensure they meet the client’s requirements and expectations. Communicate any deficiencies to appropriate parties.
  • All other duties that maybe necessary from time to time outside the normal scope of your job description that will contribute toward the company meeting its goals and objectives.

Qualifications
Your Experience & Education

  • 1-5 years’ experience in chemical process engineering preferred
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering required
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Excel required
  • Proficiency in heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Familiarity with instrumentation and controls.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings (PFD’s, PID’s, GA’s)
  • Strong written and communication skills; skilled in presentations
