Job summary

Baker Hughes Americas BRUSH Team seeks a Field Service Electrical/Controls Engineer to install, commission, repair and upgrade large rotating electrical machines and control equipment. You will travel to client sites to commission and test HV gear and train customers and colleagues.

The role requires offshore/overseas assignments, strong knowledge of electrical power systems, and ability to work independently with a team. Extensive on-site safety practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Accredited Electrical or Controls qualification or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of networking systems (Modbus, Ethernet, 61850).
• Understanding of Health, Safety & Environment concepts and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
• Willingness to undertake extensive overseas and offshore assignments.
• Experience dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, PMS, Electrical protection systems, AVRs, and Synchronising equipment.
• Upgrading AVRS, PMS, Synchronisers, protection relays and other control elements.
• Electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and requirements; attending on-site meetings.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments for client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineers on assignments, which may not be electrical.

Join the Baker Hughes Americas BRUSH Team to carry out installation, commissioning, repair, maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment.

As an Americas Field Service Electrical/Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
• Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronisers, Protection relays and other control elements.
• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have an accredited Electrical or Controls qualification or relevant experience.
• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre would be advantageous
• Have knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Health, Safety & Environment
• Have undergone medical examinations to ascertain and certify physical fitness for offshore and overseas work.
• Have the ability to be self-reliant, resourceful, and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness.
• Have the capability to communicate effectively, being fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Have the ability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore assignments.
• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative.
• Have the qualities of a good team player with the ability to work independently.
• Have a high level of knowledge in electrical power generation and distribution systems.

Our Americas team is growing to support the demand in the region and this includes a hub in Houston and Brazil that will support our growing demand for more Field Service Engineers.
