Job Summary:

Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site.

Description

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Salt Lake City, UT.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintaining detailed records of service
  • Adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Participating in ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintaining own tools
Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
  • Advanced experience with electrical repair and maintenance
  • Proficient Diesel Engine experience
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
  • Setup, troubleshoot, and repair basic paralleling generator systems
  • Understanding switchgear schematics
  • Ability to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics
Qualifications

Must be self-motivated with high organizational skills and strong diagnostic skills on fuel systems, aftertreatment systems, and electrical systems.

CDL preferred but not required. High horsepower experience is preferred but not required. Residence north of Salt Lake City, UT, is preferred.

DOT Requirements
  • A CDL may be required upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years or older
  • A current valid license is required
  • Must have a 5-year motor vehicle report free from major violations
  • Must pass a DOT physical
  • At least 3 years of driving experience
  • Subject to DOT driving regulations and random drug testing
Education, Licenses, Certifications

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (preferred), vocational diploma, valid local driving permit, and possibly licensing for export controls or sanctions.

Experience

Significant field service experience, expert knowledge of engine products, customer service experience, and experience coaching junior technicians are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include 401(k), pension, health insurance, HSA, domestic partner coverage, and other personal and professional benefits.
