Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Field Service Commissioning Technician for CT. The role involves on-site fuel cell service, autonomous task planning, and safe operation of service vehicles.

You will diagnose issues, perform maintenance and testing, and travel as needed to commission installations and support the service district. The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting skills, safety compliance experience, and the ability to read diagrams and operate test equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education/experience as listed: high school diploma with 6 years in electrical or electro-mechanical fields, or technical diploma/journeyman certification with 4 years relevant experience, or 5+ years military electrical tech experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills required.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA & NFPA 70E).
  • Experience reading single-line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fuel cell service during field visit dispatches.
  • Operate a service vehicle safely and maintain it.
  • Plan daily workflows from scheduled tasks and work autonomously.
  • Perform on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostics.
  • Travel to support commissioning new installations and service districts.
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports.

Job description

Field Service Commissioning Technician - CT
  • Provide fuel cell service during field visit dispatches
  • Operate a service vehicle safely
  • Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks ( regularly assigned to work autonomously )
  • Manage on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks
  • Travel as needed domestic and international to support company needs, including commissioning new installations around the fleet.
  • Follow company procedures and protocols
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions
  • Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend and follow customer access requirements
  • Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory
  • Maintain/build positive relationships with customers
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Required to reside within the Service District
  • Training: Two initial training sessions of up to four weeks each in San Jose, CA
Requirements
  • The following MINIMUM levels of experience and or education are required:
  • High school diploma & 6 years’ experience in electrical, process controls, or electro-mechanical fields; - Or –
  • Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, Electrician Certification in a technical field and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.) - Or –
  • 5 years or more relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical-related military experience (eg. Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, or other technical position, military certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills required
  • Familiar with safety standards, especially those related to electrical work (OSHA & NFPA 70E)
  • Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with any of the following technologies: three-phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, and microprocessor based control platforms
  • Experience with various electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Able to read and interpret electrical single line diagrams and blueprints
  • Experience with performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards for Electrical Power
  • Mechanical system aptitude, to include troubleshooting/repair skills
  • Highly motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in the resolution of complex problems
  • Team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Communicates written and verbal English effectively
  • Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions
  • Able to regularly handle equipment up to 50lbs., occasionally may lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the work day
  • Able to use a ladder or stepstool regularly
  • Able to facilitate 24X7 on-call duty
  • Able to facilitate shift work as needed
  • Able to regularly work alternative schedules (one week/month of Wednesday-Sunday, for example)
  • Able to regularly support overtime to achieve quarterly goals
  • Able to regularly travel (drive) throughout a large Service District (e.g. “Connecticut and Upstate New York District”)
  • Able to travel as needed to other US and international destinations
  • Able to maintain a driving record in good standing
  • Able to work at height while following all safety training and procedures.
