Job description

Field Sales Development Representative June 2025

McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company that touches virtually every aspect of healthcare. We are known for delivering insights, products, and services that make quality care more accessible and affordable. Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve – we care. What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow’s health today, we want to hear from you.

Our Field Sales Development Program begins in June 2025 and aims to cultivate the development and expertise of early career sales professionals. Successful participants will be promoted from a Field Sales Development Representative to an Account Executive role. As part of the Field Sales team, your primary responsibility is to sell McKesson’s product portfolio to an assigned territory or major geographical area/market, initially through phone-based interactions. As competence is demonstrated, you will have the opportunity to travel to customer sites throughout your assigned market. Success in this role requires completion of checkpoint certifications, sales performance measurements, and demonstrable sales skills. Initially, this position will work remotely; however, relocation is expected once the successful candidate applies for, and is offered, the Account Executive role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Achieve territory sales and gross profit plans to meet assigned sales targets by maximizing revenue opportunities on each assigned account, reactivating accounts, and prospecting for new business.
  2. Complete a minimum of 3+ hours and 40 customer calls per day. *This metric will shift once the rep begins to visit customers in the field.
  3. Territory and sales management: Develop account strategies, territory planning, and administrative follow-up to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Utilize all sales technology and CRM software to effectively engage with clients and maintain records of all sales leads and customer accounts. When permitted, conduct in-person field sales presentations and customer site visits with a manager or member of the training team.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, representing the McKesson Brand.
  5. Enhance selling skills through required trainings and certifications, in-services, and development initiatives, including self-study. This work will be increasingly more robust at the beginning of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 0-2+ years of sales experience
  2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  3. Valid driver's license and clear driving record
  4. The ability to relocate upon territory assignment

Preferred Critical Skills

  1. Previous experience in the healthcare industry. Specifically, primary care, extended care, podiatry, orthopedic or emergency medical services (EMS)
  2. Experience with cold calling, sales negotiation, and closing skills
  3. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems (SFDC, Goldmine, ACT, etc.), a plus

Working Conditions

  1. Traditional office environment
  2. Vehicle travel to customer locations, increasing over time in role
  3. Large percent of time performing computer-based work is required

Must be authorized to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
