Job summary

SkyChefs in San Diego is seeking a Field Safety Supervisor to lead safety initiatives on-site across ramp and operational teams. You will coach staff, perform safety observations, and drive audits to prevent injuries while maintaining regulatory compliance with OSHA, FAA, DOT and other agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or related field preferred.
• Proven analytical and leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of governmental regulations (OSHA, FDA, USDA, EPA) and state agencies.
• Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a positive safety culture across ramp and operational teams.
• Coach employees on safe work practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits to help prevent injuries.
• Facilitate safety meetings and training sessions
• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and operational events to identify root causes and develop solutions.
• Partner with local leaders to implement action plans that improve safety performance.
• Monitor safety trends and use data to recommend improvements.
• Help prepare teams for audits by airline, OSHA, FAA, DOT and internal audits.
• Build relationships with airline partners and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audit readiness.

The Opportunity

As aSafety Supervisor, you'll ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment. This role is responsible for driving employee safety initiatives, maintaining regulatory compliance, and reinforcing best practices across daily operations.
This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will work closely with frontline teams, monitor safety performance, and take immediate action to prevent incidents. In this role you'llbe a key leader, responsible for promoting a strong safety culture across our airport operations. What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and promote a positive safety culture across ramp and operational teams
• Spend time in the operation coaching employees on safe work practices and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits to help prevent injuries and equipment damage
• Facilitate engaging safety meetings and training sessions that keep safety top of mind
• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and operational events to identify root causes and develop solutions
• Partner with local leaders to implement action plans that improve safety performance
• Monitor safety trends and use data to recommend improvements
• Help prepare teams for airline, OSHA, FAA, DOT, and internal audits
• Build strong relationships with airline partners and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and operational excellence
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audit readiness

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or in related field preferred.
• In addition, one to three years of directly related experience in operations and safety required.
• Proven analytical and leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve budget.
• Understanding and applicability of governmental regulations such as OSHA, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations, as well as applicable state agencies.
• Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required combines with an aptitude for multi-tasking.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer application.
