Job summary

SkyChefs seeks a Safety Operations Lead to ensure safety and efficiency of ramp operations. You will oversee employee safety programs, SOP compliance, and training across the ramp area in a fast-paced aviation environment.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s in Safety Engineering or related field and 1–3 years in safety/ops, with strong analytical and leadership skills and excellent communication abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of related operations and safety experience required.
  • Strong analytical and leadership abilities; good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise ramp and employee safety initiatives to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with CSC Leadership on OSHA, FAA, EPA, DOT and state agency requirements.
  • Train employees on Safety and Ramp SOPs.
  • Lead daily area activities and supervise department operations.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and investigations of accidents with corrective actions.
  • Support Audit Readiness and governance in safety programs.
  • Foster company values and leadership within the team.
  • Participate in GPS career development activities to enhance team potential.

In this role, you will lead the charge in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our ramp operations. You’ll oversee every aspect of our employee safety programs and ramp procedures, playing a vital role in creating a secure, seamless environment for our team and our airline partners.

Main Accountabilities
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with Company ramp and employee safety initiatives.
  • Partners with CSC Leadership regarding employee safety issues. involving but not limited to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal Aviation Agency (FAA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT); and applicable state agencies.
  • Coordinate ramp/employee safety initiatives and appropriate. measurement systems as set by company and customer.
  • Regularly trains employees on all Employee Safety and Ramp Safety SOPs.
  • Supervise daily area / department activities in the CSC.
  • Conduct monthly Safety meetings.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all Accidents are investigated and corrective/preventive action is implemented and sustained.
  • Partners with CSC Leadership to ensure Audit Readiness.
  • Leadership.
  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed.
  • Guide, motivate and develop the subordinate employees within the Human Resources Policy.
  • Participates in coaching the expanded Global Performance System (GPS) process, as well as additional career development activities to enhance the effectiveness and potential of the team
  • Make the company’s values and management principles live in the department(s).
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as GQS, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety and CBase.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or in related field preferred.
  • In addition, one to three years of directly related experience in operations and safety required.
  • Proven analytical and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve budget.
  • Understanding and applicability of governmental regulations such as OSHA, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations, as well as applicable state agencies.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required combines with an aptitude for multi-tasking.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer application.
