Job summary

Harlan Electric Company is seeking a Safety Specialist to work with field staff, clients, and subcontractors across multiple worksites in the project area. The role involves travel and ensuring adherence to safety policies and regulations throughout all phases of electric construction projects.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in EHS roles, a high school diploma or GED, and at least one safety certification. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a strong safety culture within MYR Group.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles is required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one safety certification is preferred (e.g., CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, CSP).
• Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred; combination of experience and education considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions.
• Coordinate with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans and participate in safety meetings.
• Participate in project kick off and progress meetings.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Coach and mentor site personnel on safety practices and behaviors.
• Conduct safety observations and PPE hazard assessments.
• Facilitate required employee trainings (new hire orientation, OSHA refresher, customer trainings).
• Investigate accidents/injuries and analyze root causes.
