Job summary

Phillips Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist who will work primarily in the field with frequent travel to vegetation management project sites. You will support the Safety Manager, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and conduct inspections and training for crews.

This role emphasizes effective communication, weather resilience, and proficiency with MS Office. Expect site visits to rights-of-way, yards, and workshops, plus involvement in incident investigations and safety documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
• Two years of safety management experience, or five years of safety-related experience in vegetation management or electric utility operations.
• Professional safety certifications preferred (ASP or GSP).
• CTIA/ISA Certification (CTSP or ISA Certified Arborist/Utility Specialist) preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular walk-through inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with safety standards (ANSI Z133/OSHA).
• Observe crew practices and inspect equipment/PPE for safe operation.
• Identify hazardous conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist in preparing safety documentation and training materials.
• Collaborate with Safety Manager to plan inspections and manage safety supplies.
• Assist in investigations of incidents, compiling data and reports.
• Deliver safety training to crews, including first aid/CPR and equipment safety.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations.
