Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Company, part of MEC Transportation District, seeks a Safety Specialist to implement and support the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field, reporting to the Project Safety Manager.

You will verify safety plans, help with corrective actions, and ensure compliance with OSHA/MSHA and related standards. Responsibilities include developing and communicating the SSSP with subcontractors, coaching craft personnel, conducting hazard inspections, incident investigations, and

Qualifications

OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications required/preferred.
Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
Knowledge of construction safety, Federal and OSHA requirements.
Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication; excellent organization and time management.

Responsibilities

Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all personnel including subcontractors.
Collaborate daily with craft and operations to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
Enforce Stop Work responsibilities to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
Plan and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicators and upcoming work.
Provide safety training on OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation and client requirements.
