Job summary

The University of Washington Facilities Safety team is seeking a Field Safety Specialist to join the Safety Department in Seattle, WA. This full-time position supports departments by integrating safety requirements, conducting worksite audits, and developing reports and training aimed at reducing workplace incidents.

Reporting to the Director of Safety, you will review regulations, prepare presentations, and collaborate with shop supervisors to improve policies, procedures, and JHAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or closely related field.
• Five years of professional experience in OH&S programs.

Responsibilities

• Field Safety Support & Consultation – conduct regular worksite audits and safety updates.
• Attend shop safety meetings and review state regulations with supervisors.
• Identify safety compliance improvements and update policies and SOPs.
• Participate in root cause investigations and safety program evaluations.
• Provide safety training development in collaboration with EH&S.
