Job summary

ERM is seeking a Safety Specialist to support projects in Northern California (Sacramento to Bakersfield). This full-time, fixed-term role (12 months, renewable) focuses on enforcing contractor safety programs, guiding field teams, and ensuring Cal/OSHA and related standards are followed across multiple client sites.

Responsibilities include reviewing safety plans, conducting field observations, leading incident investigations, and communicating safety expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with electric line construction crews.
• Minimum two years’ experience performing safety observations over contractors.
• OSHA 30-hour or equivalent experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiar with Cal/OSHA, GO 95/128/165, IBEW Red Book, TD-1464S.

Responsibilities

• Manage receipt, review, and provide feedback for contractor safety documents (PSSPs, JSAs, etc.).
• Inspect site activities during kick-off and high-risk scope work.
• Perform field safety observations per PSP/SSSP requirements.
• Provide on-site safety support to identify and mitigate risks.
• Document safety records per client requirements.
• Lead safety incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Coordinate corrective actions with team members.
• Communicate safety trends and recommended actions.
