Job summary

Savage is seeking a Safety Supervisor to lead SH&E activities for the Safford operations, working closely with the Operations Manager and site supervisors to implement the S7 System and regulatory programs.

The role emphasizes field presence, incident prevention, and training delivery, with MSHA, OSHA, DOT compliance, and strong communication across teams. Travel is less than 20%, and a Bachelor’s in Safety plus 3+ years mining/industrial experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or related field preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in Transportation or Mine Operations.
• 3+ years’ experience in industrial settings with Transportation Equipment or Mines.
• Safety certification recognized by an accredited organization or ability to obtain within 12 months (e.g., ASP, SMS, OHST, CET).

Responsibilities

• Implement and execute the SH&E plan for FMI Safford and related operations.
• Develop and deliver procedural and regulatory training; track training completion and scheduling.
• Support execution of customer operating requirements, specifically MSHA.
• Establish proactive SH&E processes to prevent incidents.
• Ensure work complies with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure team follows safety rules and procedures.
• Interface with customer SH&E and operations contacts; assist in contractor safety.
• Lead the Lead Safety Specialist and Safety Specialist programs for operations.
• Ensure incidents are reported to internal and external parties.
• Lead internal and customer safety audits and root-cause investigations.
• Spend time in the field observing front-line activities.
• Track leading indicators across sites.
• Assist during incidents with hazard assessments for non-routine tasks.
