Job summary

Wendler Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Field Safety Coordinator who works in the field, building trust with crews and leading by example to keep people safe on active projects.

You will conduct site inspections, train field staff, review safety plans, and have authority to stop work for imminent danger. You’ll collaborate with the Safety Director and project leadership to enforce OSHA standards and company policies, driving a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct training.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Construction safety experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as an on-site safety resource for crews, supervisors, and project leadership.
• Conducts routine and non-routine site inspections, hazard analysis, and observations.
• Has the authority to stop work when imminent danger or serious safety hazard exists.
• Participates in inspection and maintenance plans for SWPPP programs.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, USACE EM 385-1-1, and company safety policies.
• Coaches and reinforces safe work practices with field personnel.
• Identifies opportunities to minimize injuries and enforces safety plans (AHA's, JSAs).
• Participates in incident and near-miss investigations with factual data and recommendations.
• Reviews safety training and suggests revisions and updates.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
