Job summary

National Grid, based in Buffalo, NY, is hiring a Field Safety Specialist to enhance safety culture, ensure regulatory and company compliance, and run comprehensive safety programs across operations. This field-based role requires travel to multiple worksites within the service territory and supports electric operations and facilities/ fleet safety.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted safety advisor, identifying risks, promoting safe work practices, and driving continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in one of the listed fields.
• Minimum 2 years of related safety experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as safety expert guiding operations during planning, pre-job reviews, site walk-throughs and post-project evaluations.
• Lead or collaborate on incident, injury, property damage and near-miss investigations; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions.
• Evaluate safety performance trends and develop injury and incident prevention strategies.
• Champion a safety culture emphasizing accountability and continuous improvement across field operations.
• Develop safety materials for hazardous tasks for contractor crews, field crews, fleet mechanics, and warehouse crews; emergency storm response coverage.
