Job summary

The Harris County Office of the County Engineer is seeking a Safety Inspector to oversee field-based compliance with the Worksite Safety Policy across construction projects and facilities. You will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and safety staff to identify hazards, document findings, and prevent recurrence.

Responsibilities include inspections, OSHA compliance reviews, reporting, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in safety-related field; equivalent experience acceptable.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required.
• Two years of construction safety experience including inspections and investigations.
• Ability to review safety documentation and report findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct random and scheduled site safety visits and inspections.
• Verify compliance with the Worksite Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
• Review contractor safety documentation and daily checklists.
• Interview workers and supervisors about safety practices.
• Issue stop work orders when required and verify corrective actions.
