Job summary

The Department of Business and Industry in Las Vegas seeks Safety Specialist, Enforcement staff to support OSHA within the Division of Industrial Relations. Under supervision, you will train in field inspections, promote safety practices, and enforce state and federal regulations.

Travel by state vehicle is required and shifts may include nights and weekends. Qualifications include a safety-related degree or equivalent experience, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in safety and health or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate's degree plus two years of occupational safety and health experience.
Three years in building trades, industrial operations, or occupational safety and health with primary safety duties.

Responsibilities

Conduct unannounced compliance inspections of employer sites covered by OSHA.
Identify and communicate feasible means of abatement.
Prepare written reports and conduct conferences with employers and employees.
Investigate industrial accidents and complaints; coordinate with emergency and law enforcement personnel.
Maintain case files for each inspection and investigation.
Progression to the next level may occur with satisfactory performance and approval.
