Job summary

Field AI in Irvine, CA is hiring a Robotics Integration Engineer to bring new robot platforms into our fleet and ensure control, autonomy, and payloads work reliably on real hardware.

You will collaborate across autonomy, manipulation, mechanical, and electrical teams, perform platform bring-up, safety qualification, and field deployment, with hands-on work on ROS/ROS2, sim-to-real validation, and multi-platform support.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–9 years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with middleware (ROS/ROS2) and computing (Python, C++).
• Robotics software generalist with experience in controls, navigation, and systems integration.
• Sim-to-real experience across simulation to real hardware.
• Familiarity with motors, actuation, BLDC controllers, and electrical/power systems.
• Knowledge of CAN bus, EtherCAT, or similar real-time protocols.

Responsibilities

• Platform Abstraction: build software layers between each robot's control stack (ROS/ROS2) and Field AI systems.
• Robot Controls & Navigation: ensure stacks run on physical hardware across quadruped, humanoid, and wheeled platforms.
• Electro-Mechanical Integration: collaborate on mechanical/electrical interfaces and power distribution.
• Sim-to-Real: validate RL/autonomy policies from simulation to real-world performance.
