Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Building Technology, Construction Management or related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in construction, building trades, site inspections or related field.
• Experience in construction inspection for transportation infrastructure and roadway projects preferred.
• Erosion and Sediment Control certification and a valid driver's license are required; certification within probation period may be required.
• Must obtain inspector certification per the State of Georgia within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork and comply with codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and approve the construction of transportation infrastructure by developers within Cobb County rights of way, including pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, signals and traffic control devices.
• Coordinate developer work with ongoing transportation projects.
• Ensure that work zone traffic control is safe and compliant with County requirements.
• Verify that materials, workmanship, and construction methods meet approved plans, specifications, and details.
• Coordinate with developers, contractors, utility companies, and County staff to resolve construction conflicts and design modifications.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, final inspections, and punchlist completion to ensure all work is finalized.
• Communicate and coordinate progress with the City of Mableton’s Community Development Department and staff.
