Job summary

GNY Insurance Group in New York City is seeking a field inspector to perform inspections on commercial buildings and help evaluate property and casualty risks for current and prospective policyholders.

You will describe insured operations, assess building components, collaborate with underwriters on renewal surveys, and communicate practical risk reduction opportunities while pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, safety or risk management.
• 4+ years of experience in insurance, risk management, or property/construction management.
• 2 years’ experience evaluating property and casualty risks.
• Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities to clients.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate property and casualty risks for current and prospective policyholders.
• Describe insured operations and mitigation procedures.
• Assess building construction and condition of roof, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Review premises liability and contractual risk transfer exposures.
• Communicate risk reduction opportunities to insured stakeholders.
• Produce concise UW survey reports with findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with underwriters on renewal surveys and follow-up.
• Pursue professional development and industry knowledge.
• Participate in special projects as required.
