Job summary

Greater New York Insurance Companies seeks a Field Inspector to perform risk assessments for NYC and Long Island properties. You will evaluate property and casualty risks, describe insured operations for loss mitigation, and verify construction and components for commercial and habitation buildings.

You will collaborate with underwriters on renewal surveys, communicate risk reduction opportunities, produce concise UW reports with practical recommendations, and support special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, engineering, safety, risk management) or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in insurance, risk management, or property/construction management.
• 2 years’ experience evaluating property and casualty risks.
• Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities for customer buy-in and compliance.

Position Summary

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Effectively evaluate property and casualty risks and controls for current and prospective policyholders.
• Describe insureds’ operations and procedures for mitigating property and casualty loss exposures.
• Verify building construction classification and assess condition of building components to include roof, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection for habitational and commercial properties.
• Evaluate premise liability and contractual risk transfer exposures.
• Effectively communicate risk reduction opportunities to insured stakeholders.
• Produce concise UW survey reports elaborating on critical findings and including practical recommendations.
• Collaborate with underwriters in coordination of renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up.
• Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge and abilities to include pursuit of designations and industry knowledge.
• Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including business, engineering, safety, risk management or 4 or more years experience working in insurance, risk management, property/construction management or a related field.
• 2 Years’ experience evaluating property and casualty risks.
• Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.

The salary range for this role is $61,700-$109,500. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
