Job summary

SEIU (Service Employees International Union) is seeking a Field Researcher to support organizing campaigns and collective bargaining across its industries. The role involves quantitative and qualitative analysis, data compilation, and timely information delivery to Local and International Union staff.

Responsibilities include developing weekly work plans, applying new research skills, and contributing to SEIU’s mission of worker power and social justice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, journalism, labor relations, statistics, or a related field and two years of research experience.
• Demonstrated ability in quantitative or qualitative research.
• Knowledge of research techniques and processes.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software and online research services.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Researches, compiles, presents, and summarizes data on industries, companies, individuals, issues, and other topics in support of SEIU’s programs.
• Synthesizes relevant facts/issues from a large amount of information/data.
• Works with Local Union and International Union staff to gather, analyze, and provide relevant information in a timely fashion.
• Intellectual curiosity and persistence in pursuing answers, digging into information, and asking follow-up questions.
• Develops and implements weekly work plans to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
• Develops and applies new skills to support research assignments.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the department and its mission.
