Job summary

SEIU’s Strategic Initiatives Department seeks a Field Researcher to join its Research Team. This person will provide research that supports organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and other activities within the Department, across SEIU's industries and campaigns, and alongside SEIU Local Unions and Affiliates.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of research experience, with strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus two years of research experience (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability in quantitative or qualitative research.
• Knowledge of research techniques and quantitative analysis.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and online research services.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Research, compile, present, and summarize data to support SEIU’s programs.
• Synthesize relevant facts/issues from large information sources.
• Collaborate with Local and International unions to gather and analyze information.
• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and persistence in pursuing answers.
• Develop and implement weekly work plans to meet deadlines.
• Develop new skills to support research assignments.
• Perform other duties to support the department.
